Burt
& Terri's Key Lime Pie Shot, Key Lime Pie Shooter
& Key Lime Pie Martini Recipes Collection
|
| I
have tried all kinds of Key Lime Pie Drinks. The standard
and most common recipe calls for 2 basic ingredients.
Whipped Cream Vodka and Key Lime Juice. From there it
depends on the area and the bar tender. In some areas
Key Limes may be seasonal or may not be available at any
time. Some patrons would rather have Rum than Vodka. Others
don't want a graham cracker rimmed glass. Some want whipped
cream on top others don't.
So just about
every Bar Tender has their own way of making Key Lime
Pie flavored drinks. Most will ask about the graham crackers
and whipped cream before they make it.
The recipes
listed here highlight different areas of the country and
ingredients available; and different bar tenders have
different versions of a Key Lime Pie drink. There are
some creative ideas here. But I am Old School. If it isn't
broke don't fix it.
I do want to
point out that I prefer shots (I make 2 or 3) in a martini
style glass or beer glass. Not the little shot or shooter
glasses.

The
Standard Key Lime Pie Shot
Start out with
a Cocktail Shaker 3/4 full of ice. These drinks are "shaken
not stirred" and strained into a chilled glass.
- 1 oz Whipped
Cream Vodka
- 1 oz (fresh
or bottled) Key Lime Juice
Optional:
- Graham Cracker
Crushed to Rim the Glass
- Whipped
Cream Topping
- You
can use ½ ounce Vodka and ½ ounce Bailey’s
Irish Cream if you are out of Whipped Cream Vodka.
Any brand of
Flavored Vodka will work.

KEY
LIME PIE DRINKS
Some recipes
I have seen call for Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice
instead of Regular Lime Juice. Feel
free to get creative with your Key Lime Pie drinks!
I am thinking
1 ounce max or your drink may be too sweet with flavored
vodkas.

Key
Lime Pie Martini 2.0
2 ounces Vanilla
Vodka
1/2 ounce Whipped Cream Vodka (optional)
1/2 ounce Nellie & Joe's Key West Key Lime Juice or
Regular Lime Juice
2 tablespoons Coco Real Cream of Coconut
1 ounce Pineapple Juice
1 ounce Heavy Cream
Graham cracker crumbs lightly sprinkled on top |
A local restaurant
and bar, Upstream Brewing Company had a Key Lime Pie Martini
on their cocktail menu at one time. I found it interesting due
to the Licor 43 inclusion. Most Key Lime Pie martini recipes
call for KeKe Lime Cream Liqueur instead. C.L.

skip the Half & Half and Graham Cracker.

If
you prefer Rum Based Drinks then you can make
a few modifications to some of these recipes. Instead of using
whipped cream vodka, consider using a Coconut Rum and
follow the rest of the recipe. If you are able to find Key
Lime Rum, you would then skip or reduce the whipped
cream vodka and skip or reduce the lime juice.
Also
for Rum drinkers. Here are some recipes for the Hemingway
Daiquiri and Papa
Doble.
