We got lucky as the saying goes. In September 2002 our daughter and some other classmates were invited to a pool party at her teacher's house here in Maryland.

When her hubby heard we were taking our first trip to Key West in October for our 16th Anniversary he explained that he was stationed at the Naval Air Station Key West for 5 years.

He gave us a written itinerary of where to go, what to see, what to avoid, that kind of stuff. We stayed at La Concha on Duval Street.

He said that Stone Crab Claws would be in season on the 15th, and suggested we try them (we loved them). And to check out the Goombay Festival which would be happening in the Bahama Village at that time. We shared our first Conch Salad there in the Bahama Village and could not get over how good it was. While there we also shared our first chilled fresh cut green coconut water. It was delicious and very refreshing. The list was very helpful and saved us a lot of wasted time. We have extended our stay in Key West many times which is always exciting.

So, in 2009, after the Great Recession forced me to close my mortgage business, I decided to design this website with help from my lovely wife Terri. We came up with Tips, Ideas, Suggestions, and Trivia.

Later would come the other stuff (such as free helpful tour, excursion, and rental Links) not only for first time visitors, but for repeat visitors to Key West as well. We are hopeful visitors to this site may chuckle while discovering something new with our jokes and dumb observations.

Since 2002 we have been back to Key West more than a dozen times while staying in at least a dozen different Hotels and B and B's. Those visits taught us a lot more that we can now share with you on the many pages on this website.

We acknowledge Margaritaville may be considered by some a "tourist trap" but my wife Terri and I like the Margaritaville restaurant, the atmosphere and the Seasonal Menu. You may too! Stop in and get a feel for the Key West Margaritaville vibe. To the right: our first time in Margaritaville Key West 2002. We stayed at La Concha. Which is a short walk to and from Margaritaville and all the other happening Duval Street Bars.

We stop in whenever we are in town. We sometimes sit at the bar and start with a shot of tequila prior to ordering. We often end the evening there with another shot before stumbling back to our room. Or to another bar! There are excellent bands at Margaritaville that will keep you entertained well into the night.
